HealthForMac reads your Apple Health data and shows it to you on your Mac. We collect nothing. Your health data never touches our servers — because we have no servers. Everything stays on your iPhone, travels through your own iCloud Drive, and lives on your Mac. The developer, Murilo Soares Pereira, has no ability to see, access, or receive any of your data.
1. Who We Are
HealthForMac (“the App,” “we,” “our,” “us”) is developed and published by Murilo Soares Pereira, an individual software developer based in Munich, Germany. You can reach us at hello@healthformac.com or via HealthForMac.com.
For purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to the extent it applies, the developer is the data controller. Because we collect no personal data whatsoever, there is no personal data processing to describe beyond what is stated in this policy.
2. What HealthForMac Does — and How Data Flows
HealthForMac is a macOS dashboard app. It works exclusively with data you have already stored in Apple Health (HealthKit) on your iPhone. Here is the entire data flow:
- On your iPhone: You use Apple Health to record activity, workouts, heart rate, sleep, and other health metrics.
- Export: HealthForMac’s companion iPhone app packages your Health data into a file placed in your own iCloud Drive. Apple controls and secures this transfer — we do not.
- On your Mac: The macOS app reads that file locally, stores data in a local on-device database, and displays it as a dashboard.
- Nowhere else: That is the end of the data flow. Data never leaves your personal Apple ecosystem (your devices and your iCloud Drive). No copy is sent anywhere. No third party — including the developer — ever receives it.
3. Data the App Accesses
The App may read the following categories of health data from your Apple Health export, solely to display them back to you:
- Activity and movement (steps, distance, active energy, exercise minutes)
- Workouts and training (type, duration, distance, heart rate, energy, GPS route)
- Heart-rate and cardiovascular metrics (resting heart rate, HRV, VO₂ max)
- Body measurements (weight, body fat percentage, waist circumference)
- Sleep analysis (time in bed, sleep stages)
- Blood oxygen, and other HealthKit data types present in your export
All of this data is processed exclusively on your own devices. We never see it, receive it, or store it anywhere outside your Mac. The specific data types available depend on what you have recorded in Apple Health and the permissions you have granted.
4. What We Collect — Nothing
| Category | Do we collect it? |
|---|---|
| Your name or email address | No |
| Your health or fitness data | No |
| Device identifiers | No |
| IP address or location | No |
| Usage analytics or telemetry | No |
| Crash reports | No |
| Purchase or payment information | No |
| Any other personal data | No |
We have deliberately built HealthForMac with no analytics SDKs, no telemetry, no crash-reporting services, and no network connectivity of our own. The App makes no outbound connections to any server operated by us or any third party. We do not sell, rent, license, share, or otherwise disclose any data to anyone, because we have no data to share.
5. Apple’s Role and iCloud
The export file is stored in your iCloud Drive, governed by Apple’s own Privacy Policy and terms of service:
- Apple Privacy Policy: apple.com/legal/privacy
- Apple Media Services Terms: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes
Apple may collect diagnostic, crash, or purchase data through normal App Store mechanisms. That data is collected by Apple, not by us, and is governed by Apple’s privacy policy — not this one.
6. HealthKit — Specific Commitments
In compliance with Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines and as a firm commitment to you, HealthForMac will not:
- Use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing purposes.
- Use HealthKit data for any use-based data mining.
- Sell HealthKit data or disclose it to any third party for any commercial purpose.
- Store your health information in iCloud beyond the export file you create yourself in your own iCloud Drive.
HealthKit data is used exclusively to display your own information back to you and to generate the on-device analytics shown in the App.
7. Security
Because all data stays on your devices:
- Data at rest is stored in a local database on your Mac, inside the App’s sandboxed container protected by macOS.
- The iCloud export file is protected by Apple’s iCloud encryption in transit and at rest.
- The App runs inside the macOS App Sandbox with the minimum access it needs.
No security measure is perfect. We recommend using full-disk encryption (FileVault) and keeping macOS up to date.
8. Your Rights and Controls
Because we hold none of your data, the standard rights to access, port, or have us erase your data are satisfied by design. You retain full control:
- Export your data: the App exports everything to CSV.
- Delete local data: wipe the App’s local database any time from its settings.
- Delete the App: uninstalling removes its sandboxed data container entirely.
- Revoke HealthKit access: on iPhone, Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
- Delete your iCloud export files through the Files app or Finder.
EU/EEA residents (GDPR) and California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we collect no personal information and we do not sell any personal information, so there is nothing for us to disclose, port, or delete. If you have a concern, contact us at hello@healthformac.com and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Children’s Privacy
HealthForMac is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/EEA), and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, no special collection or processing of children’s data occurs. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will promptly address it.
10. No Third-Party Advertising or Analytics
HealthForMac contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, no social-media pixels or trackers, and no affiliate or marketing tracking links.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where significant, post a notice on HealthForMac.com. Because we collect nothing, any change is unlikely to affect your privacy in practice.
